No One Offers More Lightweight Wheelchair Choices at the Lowest Price than Mobility4Less!!

When it comes to choosing a Lightweight Wheelchair, why look anywhere else?  Mobility4Less offers only the best Lightweight Wheelchairs from respected manufacturers such as Invacare, Quickie, and Drive.  These wheelchairs fold easily and are light enough to take with you when you travel, yet they offer amazing strength and long life.  Many offer customizable seat dimensions so finding the right lightweight wheelchair at a great, low price is just a few clicks away!

Mobility4Less offers Lightweight Wheelchairs that answer the needs of almost any wheelchair user.  These Wheelchairs generally weigh less than 35 lbs. and have easily removable footrests for trouble-free portability.  Whether the wheelchair user needs lighter weight for traveling or simply needs a lighter weight wheelchair for propelling over thresholds or carpeting, a Lightweight Wheelchair from Mobility4Less is the perfect way to save weight and money!

Here are some TIPS for choosing a Lightweight Wheelchair:

  • Less weight is always better.  Sounds simple but many people forget that accessories such as footrests and a cushion will add weight to the chair.  Even the wheel and tire choices can adversely affect the weight of a wheelchair.  While pneumatic tires require much more maintenance, they are much lighter than solid rubber tires.  An aluminum footplate on a footrest is great for strength and stability, but also weighs a great deal more than a composite plastic one.  So, be careful when choosing accessories if weight is an issue.
  •  Find Wheelchairs with Removable Accessories.  Many Lightweight Wheelchairs offer flexibility when it comes to effortlessly removing parts for travel.  It is not uncommon for a Lightweight Wheelchair to offer easily removable footrests, armrests and rear wheels.  This allows a wheelchair to be easily stowed in a trunk or backseat for transportation.
  • Lightweight does not always include High Strength.  Because of the complexity of wheelchair coding for insurance, some Lightweight wheelchairs may not last as long as others.  Wheelchairs that need to be used for only a short time do not need the structural integrity of chair that will be utilized for the life of its user.  So if you are shopping for a Lightweight Wheelchair that you intend to keep indefinitely, then make sure to buy one that is deemed by the manufacturer to be a High Strength, Lightweight Wheelchair.
  • Elevating Legrests aren't always a good idea.  There is a school of thought out there that elevating the legs while sitting will help with swelling in the lower legs.  While it may sound logical, it doesn't really help.  In order for fluids in the lower legs to be circulated, the feet need to be raised above the heart.  This helps get the fluids flowing downhill instead of uphill.  Since it is impossible for elevating legrests on a wheelchair to accomplish this, it is generally a waste of money trying to do so.  Additionally, a Wheelchair's elevating legrests project a long way away from the seat of the wheelchair making it very difficult for a user to safely propel plus they are much heavier than footrests.  So unless the wheelchair user has a leg that doesn't easily bend 90 degress at the knee, it is best to avoid elevating legrests.
